Count well-known actress-comedienne Roseanne Barr among the relatively few American celebrities who is willing to be outspoken in her support for President Donald Trump.
It is usually far more common for prominent actors, musicians, and media stars, that have left-wing sensibilities or support politically progressive causes, to be candid about their opinions and beliefs. However, the 64-year-old star of the hit television show Roseanne often paid compliments to Mr. Trump during the 2016 race.
She has continued to defend him online and in the mainstream press ever since Trump won the Presidency on November 8th of last year.
Her latest show of support for the President came when she took to Twitter to defend him from criticism that she calls “disguised” attacks on American voters. Ms. Barr tweeted “Every single attack on @POTUS is really a disguised attack on American voters who rejected Obama-Clinton-Bush’s bleeding of R treasury.”
Barr, who was the subject of a documentary film that recorded her own presidential run in 2012 – has probably been the most fervent celebrity supporter of President Trump’s political policies and legislative positions in the press and on social media.
The comedian spoke out last week after Palestinian activist and Women’s March organizer Linda Sarsour said it is not possible to be a feminist and support Israel. Barr posted on Twitter back at Sarsour, “Is it even possible to be a pro-Palestinian feminist?”
Barr told the Hollywood Reporter in June 2016 that the country would be “lucky” if Trump won, “because then it wouldn’t be Hillary.” She also said, “I like Trump because he financed his own [campaign].”
“That’s the only way he could’ve gotten that nomination,” Barr continued. “Because nobody wants a president who isn’t from Yale and Harvard and in the club. Cause it’s all about distribution. When you’re in the club, you’ve got people that you sell to. That’s how money changes hands, that’s how business works,” Barr stated.
