Photo of a Man With a Bullet in His Neck Is Going Viral… When You Hear His Story, You’ll See Why

Stories about American heroes never go unnoticed by the public. So, when a story like that surfaced in wake of the Las Vegas shooting massacre, resulting in 59 dead and over 500 wounded, America felt beyond humbled and grateful.

As per reports, Jonathan Smith, who works as a copy machine repairman from California, was an attendee at the 91 Route Harvest Music Festival on alongside his nine family members.

The first thing Smith did when the shooter opened fire was to shield his family and take them to safety. Then he came back for others.

As he explained, he screamed at everyone there, “Active shooter, active shooter, let’s go! We have to run!”

From there, he and everyone who was with him headed towards the handicapped parking area, which was beyond the shooter’s reach.

Smith continued to act upon the crime.

After going back and forth several times, helping people, he got shot in the neck and was urged to a hospital. As he explained, he was protecting a group of girls from the gunman when he felt the bullet piercing his neck.

“I couldn’t feel anything in my neck. There was a warm sensation in my arm,” Smith said from the Sunrise Hospital lobby on Monday while waiting to be released.

Smith was left with a fractured collarbone, a bruised lung, and a cracked rib. Doctors agreed that, for the time being, the bullet is best left there (in the neck) since removing it could lead to complications.

As Smith recalls, he was saved by a police officer from San Diego, who was off-duty that night. He said the policeman even took him to the hospital to get help.

Smith got in the back of a pickup truck, which had several other wounded victims in the bed of the truck, as well.

“I really didn’t want to die,” Smith said.

Smit, who saved around 30 people that night, can be seen in the post-surgery photo below:

The surfaced another image, this time of both Smith and Kansas City Chiefs football player Marcus Peters, who sat through the national anthem at a recent game.

The way Smith handled the shooting incident was beyond heroic and we couldn’t be prouder to have a man like that serve the American people and America as well. In times of division, pressure, and violence, showing courage is a thing to respect. This guy right here is a force to be reckoned with, for sure.
