When the nation discovered that a terrorist migrant had killed 8 people in Lower Manhattan, liberals immediately tried to spin the attack by condemning President Donald Trump’s policies. Unfortunately for them, the father of one of the terror attack victims has come forward with 7 breath-taking words for Trump’s critics.
On Halloween, 29-year-old migrant Sayfullo Saipov plowed a rental truck into a group of pedestrians in New York City, killing 8. Soon, the world learned that Saipov had immigrated to the U.S. in 2010 from Uzbekistan, a Muslim-majority country, and had devoted his life to Allah and the Islamic State. Subsequently, Americans pointed to Saipov’s religious beliefs as motivation for the attack. In an effort to protect the ideology, leftists immediately defended Saipov and instead turned the attack on Trump, calling him a racist and Islamophobe.
Before the bodies were even identified, mainstream media outlets shamelessly expressed concern for a “backlash” against the Muslim community, which is always decried but never actually happens. These sympathizers used every tactic in the book to deflect blame from Islam, including running to the defense of the Muslim minority and blaming Trump for causing fear and division with his so-called anti-Muslim stance. Incredibly, one man who has firsthand experience with the left’s submissive approach to terrorism has a message for out-of-touch liberals.
In an interview with Fox News, James Drake honored the memory of his son, 32-year-old Darren Drake, who was one of the victims in Tuesday’s Islamic terror attack. After giving a heart-wrenching testimony of the joy his son’s life had brought to the world, James’ message became solemn. When asked for his thoughts on Saipov, who had entered the U.S. through loose immigration laws that Trump is fighting to tighten, James sternly chastised liberals combatting the travel bans, unhesitantly declaring that “vetting should be a lot more difficult” for the migrants and refugees entering the U.S.
“These people, they come to the country and they hurt us. I mean, what’d they expect. Of course there’s a war going on between American and ISIS al-Qaeda. Of course there’s a war going on. I just think that vetting should be a lot more difficult to allow these people who come into the country, especially a single man. I understand he was married living in Paterson but I think that when he came in, he came in as one person.”
When asked what he would like to see happen over the course of the trial, James practiced unimaginable restraint, arguing that Saipov should be left to die alone in prison.
“He should spend the rest of his life in solitary. That’s exactly the way I feel. Don’t let him get communication with anybody,” James said.
Using his own experience as an example, James explained that he has Assyrian neighbors across the street and loves them. However, he adds that although some asylum seekers might truly be refugees like his neighbors, others are using the refugee crisis to infiltrate America for nefarious purposes. “You get these radicals, and my son is the victim,” he concluded, lamenting that he must now “live with” the loss of his son.
According to The Daily Caller, James revealed how much of an impact his son had on his family. James called Darren a “miracle,” explaining that he and his wife had tried for over a decade to conceive and even suffered a loss.
“That really was a miracle because we tried for almost 12 years to have a baby and then, finally, we had one pregnancy — it didn’t work out,” James said. “Then Darren was born and his birthday was November 18. It was just so beautiful that his mother and I came home from the hospital with him on Thanksgiving Day. It doesn’t really get a lot more beautiful than that.”
James told Fox News that, growing up, his son was a Boy Scout, high school football player, and eventually received a degree from Rutgers. James was informed of his son’s passing after hearing about the attack near his work in Manhattan and failing to get in touch with him on his cell phone.
“My wife and I had gone for a ride and we put on the radio and we heard that there was an incident down by the World Trade Center where my son worked,” James said. “We just said, ‘No, no, no.’ It would have to be too coincidental that our son would be there at that precise time… We just realized as the longer the night went on, he wasn’t coming home anymore.”
Darren had been hit by Saipov when he drove a truck into a bike lane in Lower Manhattan. It was hours before his parents discovered that their son was one of the deceased victims whom authorities had recovered from the scene.
Before ending the interview, James lauded the emergency responders and counter-terror officers, adding that “they were all aces.”
President Donald Trump has called for an end to the “Diversity Visa Lottery Program,” which randomly selects applicants from countries with low immigration to the United States. The program serves no other purpose than to contribute to America’s already multicultural population.
“The terrorist came into our country through what is called the ‘Diversity Visa Lottery Program,’ a Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit based,” Trump tweeted, referring to the Senate Democratic leader who hails from New York. Trump, who called for “extreme vetting” after the truck attack that left at least eight people dead, said in a follow-up tweet: “We are fighting hard for Merit Based immigration, no more Democrat Lottery Systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter).”
The only reason that liberals want more dangerous migrants who cannot be vetted and harbor hatred for our nation and its values is that they are bleeding-heart virtue-signalers who need a reason to pat themselves on the back. They are attempting to repair the Democratic Party’s racist history of slavery and Jim Crowe laws by opening our land as if it is a buffet for potential terrorists.
Hopefully, President Donald Trump continues to fight those who stand in the way of putting our nation and its citizens first instead of trying to appease those who despise our liberties and laws like the ignorant left.
